The Port Pirates Cricket Club was founded in 2003, continuing a tradition of cricket in the area that dates back to 1870. The club's nickname, "The Pirates," is said to have originated from a pair of pads with the nickname inside. They offer programs for all ages, from the "In2cricket program" for young children to senior teams for adults.
